The winds got huffy and a waterspout prowled the Ft. Lauderdale beach on Saturday (3-19-16). The Ultra Music Festival and LeBron James rumbled in Miami. We walked the strand around noon. The police presence was heavy and braced for a Spring Breakers’ onslaught that failed to materialize. The kids went south and our beaches were sparse, even by a normal Saturday standard.
The beach was mostly deserted near the Ft. Lauderdale Police canopies.
There were cops on foot, on bicycles, on motorcycles and horseback. They just didn’t have many college kids to corral.
Cops on horses are popular and imposing on the beach. They had very few kids to wrangle on a blustery Spring Break Saturday.
