In November 2016 we bought a townhouse in Charlotte, NC. Last week Karen had to work in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and since our 21st Anniversary fell on Tuesday (11-7-17), I went with her. Fortunately, Hurricane Irma mostly spared “The Yachting Capital of the World” and things were not only back to normal, the city is experiencing a building boom.

We stayed in room 929 at the Riverside Hotel and the ocean view from our balcony was excellent.

We were welcomed back by this magnificent sunrise on our first morning at the Riverside.

Every sunrise at the Riverside Hotel was reason enough to get up and start the day.

Karen worked weekdays and we played at night. I introduced myself to our new tenant at the condo, attended a morning, management meeting and made the rounds to visit with old friends. I definitely enjoyed a less stressful week than my wonderful wife.

This was our group Friday night on the beach at Las Olas and A1A to hear “Mr. Nice Guy” play 60s, 70s and 80s classic Rock covers. The cold front in the distance brought rain 90-minutes after the band started.

Front Row L-R, Dave, Karen and Wendy. Back Row L-R, Ann, Mike, Amy, Jeff and Max. We got a little wet, but had a great time.

Karen only got to soak up some sun for a few hours on Saturday.

We ate a quick lunch and enjoyed the beach view from Blondies before departure to the airport.

After living in Ft. Lauderdale it felt odd to be a tourist. It’s a great place to visit and I know exactly why people want to live there.
